SUMMARY:The Day That Made a Difference
DESCRIPTION:Image courtesy of Michael Coutts | “After the Storm” \n No registration is required to attend — All are welcome!\nInjection Molding\, Swimming Pools\, and Attempted Suicide\nIn this program\, Bob Fletcher\, Troy Miller\, and Michael Coutts will discuss the day they found their purpose and sanity in photography. Each has a unique story while all three being interconnected. Join us and hear how each person’s personal challenges and goals brought them to photography and why they started their business as they share their successes and failures. \n  \n\n  \nMeet our Speakers\n  \nBob Fletcher\nBob began his professional photography carrer in January 1970 by learning the old fashion way of mentoring with established photographers such as Bill Stockwell\, Rocky Gunn\, Monte Zucker\, David Peters\, and many others. \nIn the late 1990’s\, Bob started using the early Kodak/Canon digital hybrid cameras and was immediately hooked on digital photography. Around that time he also started working for Canon USA as a Freelancer\, a relationship continues to this day. Throughout his career\, Bob has mentored beginners in the art and business of photography so that they too could make a living from something that they love to do. \n  \nSample of Work\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n  \nTroy Miller\nBased in Southern California\, Troy Miller has been involved in all facets of photography from weddings to fine art. Beginning their days in film\, he and his wife Marjorie launched their primary business\, Imagery Concepts\, 25+ years ago and have been involved in the professional photography industry ever since. To exercise his creativity\, Troy captures fine artwork through a variety of textures and natural elements ranging from ocean waves to flames. \nWhen he’s not creating art\, Troy dedicates his time to furthering education within the industry through various organizations such as IEPPV\, f64 Live\, TWiP\, and other outlets throughout California. Whether it’s through public speaking\, teaching\, or judging\, Troy works to further the craft and professionalism of the photography industry. \nSample of Work\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n  \n  \nMichael Coutts\n“Cutting through the negatives of life with the thought-provoking artistry of imagery”. \nFrom a young age\, Michael Coutts\, a photographer based out of Southern California\, was fascinated with the camera. However\, it took many years until he would answer his calling. Through career changes and life challenges\, he has ended up in a fascinating moment of life with a camera as his voice. Mike finds his home in street photography and has an ability to connect us to the people we would most likely not want to meet. Through his unique way of storytelling\, he invites you to the doorstep of your own demons. His edgy style brings you in and inspires you to become the person you lost under all the crud of life. \n  \nSample of Work\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n  \n\n  \nDisclaimer: This presentation contains discussion relating to suicide and may be difficult for some audiences. She seeks to capture photographs of the awe she sees in our world and hopefully make you feel as if you are with her in the moment she is photographing\, or at the very least\, create a “you want to be there now” response. \nCarla is a hunter-gatherer of natural light and fleeting moments whose escapades with the Riverside Press-Enterprise\, The Coloradoan\, the Rocky Mountain News\, and papers in the DC area\, began in the darkroom breathing fixer fumes under orange lights to shooting NBA Finals\, raging wildfires\, Burning Man and the Pope. \n  \nNeale Adair\nBorn and raised in Southern California\, Neale Adair of Adair Photography grew up in his family owned and operated business where they have been specializing in portraits and fine art photography in for over sixty years. \nWith a passion for painting and ballet\, he was accepted to an art school in San Miguel Allende\, Mexico as a teenager. From then onward\, the theater provided a channel for creative exploration and the opportunity to work and travel throughout Europe\, Asia\, and the U.S. \nToday\, Neale incorporates the diverse skills and creativity drawn from his background in painting and theater into his photographs.

SUMMARY:June General Meeting - Dual Hands-On Instruction
DESCRIPTION:Something a little different! \nFor our upcoming June meeting\, we have an exciting hands-on learning opportunity. Two shooting sets will be created featuring instruction from Troy Miller\, giving you the best tips and tricks for shooting in the pouring rain\, and Nick-Seth Smith demonstrating how to create beautiful portrait lighting with less than $1\,500 worth of gear. \nBring your cameras (no tripods or light stands please) and be prepared for some fun! There will be numerous opportunities to capture some great shots. \n  \n\n  \nTroy Miller – The Weather vs. Your Shot\nHave you ever wanted to create a killer photograph of a truck in the rain? Well\, that’s exactly what we are going to do. Don’t worry\, Troy will be the one teaching and getting soaked\, camera and all. He will be going over how to best prepare\, narrowing the concept for your shot\, lighting\, posing and how to work when the weather is against you. \nBring your gear for safe and dry shooting at a distance. \n  \n  \n\n  \nNick Seth-Smith – Portrait Lighting Without Breaking the Bank\nWe have all seen portrait demonstrations with tens of thousands of dollars in high-end lighting equipment\, beautiful sets\, and complex setups. Nick will take an alternative look at the same challenge and create a portrait using no more than $1\,500 of equipment\, including the camera. This is a chance to see that your work doesn’t have to reflect your equipment budget. \nLeft – Example of Nick’s Portrait Work \n  \n  \n  \n\n\nDINNER OPTION\nIf you would like to purchase a meal during the meeting\, the cost is $10.
