SUMMARY:June General Meeting - Dual Hands-On Instruction
DESCRIPTION:Something a little different! \nFor our upcoming June meeting\, we have an exciting hands-on learning opportunity. Two shooting sets will be created featuring instruction from Troy Miller\, giving you the best tips and tricks for shooting in the pouring rain\, and Nick-Seth Smith demonstrating how to create beautiful portrait lighting with less than $1\,500 worth of gear. \nBring your cameras (no tripods or light stands please) and be prepared for some fun! There will be numerous opportunities to capture some great shots. \n  \n\n  \nTroy Miller – The Weather vs. Your Shot\nHave you ever wanted to create a killer photograph of a truck in the rain? Well\, that’s exactly what we are going to do. Don’t worry\, Troy will be the one teaching and getting soaked\, camera and all. He will be going over how to best prepare\, narrowing the concept for your shot\, lighting\, posing and how to work when the weather is against you. \nBring your gear for safe and dry shooting at a distance. \n  \n  \n\n  \nNick Seth-Smith – Portrait Lighting Without Breaking the Bank\nWe have all seen portrait demonstrations with tens of thousands of dollars in high-end lighting equipment\, beautiful sets\, and complex setups. Nick will take an alternative look at the same challenge and create a portrait using no more than $1\,500 of equipment\, including the camera. This is a chance to see that your work doesn’t have to reflect your equipment budget. \nLeft – Example of Nick’s Portrait Work \n  \n  \n  \n\n\nDINNER OPTION\nIf you would like to purchase a meal during the meeting\, the cost is $10. Payment is accepted at the meeting (cash only).

SUMMARY:Capturing the Elusive Moment
DESCRIPTION: This class is available to ALL who would like to attend\, including non-members!\nIt can be difficult to create and bring to life what your mind sees and imagines. Many of us feel creatively stifled at times and find it difficult to see beyond our line of sight. Then again at times we have a very clear image but need the inspiration\, knowledge and tools to create it. It can be difficult to break the barriers needed to take us beyond our comfort zone. \nKen Sklute\, a Canon Explorer of Light\, has had a diverse and long career in photography and continuously challenges himself to learn new techniques to create images he’s imagined first. Come learn with Ken and push yourself to reach the goals in your photography you’ve been meaning to explore but haven’t until now. Ken will share his techniques with you about photographing some rather challenging subject matter like capturing lightning\, tornados\, lava and the elusive Aurora Borealis. Photographing subjects that are not yet visible requires a pre-visualization process that Ken will skillfully lead you through. You will leave with improved techniques\, and an ability to see subjects like you never have before. \nVisit Ken’s site\, serendipityvisuals.com\, for more of his photographic work and blog posts. \n  \nLocation Details: \n\n\n\nClick map to enlarge.\n\nWhen you have arrived at RCC\, rurn North on Terracina Dr. and park in the parking structure. The meeting will be in the Digital Library & Learning Resource Center auditorium room (directly across from the parking structure) \n  \n
