SUMMARY:Environmental Portraiture
DESCRIPTION:Image courtesy of Ian Spainer \nRegistration is required to attend\n“Photography isn’t just taking pictures\, it’s about telling a story – and to tell a great story\, you must understand the principles of light. That understanding is as important as the backdrop\, setting\, and the subjects themselves- great lighting makes for great stories.” \nJoin our hosts\, Troy Miller and Steve Brazill\, as they talk with Ian Spainer about images that exemplify this idea and how to capture photos that tell the story you want to share. Whether creating images in your backyard\, traveling\, or in a studio\, creating images that tell a story should be the goal for all photographers. Part of that journey comes from developing a style—So they’ll explore how you can sort out developing your style and how light is your path towards better photography. \n  \n\n  \nMeet our guest\nIan Spanier began taking photographs at six years old when his parents gave him his first point and shoot camera. After majoring in photography in college\, Spanier worked in publishing as an editor\, but making pictures never left him. \nIan’s first full book of published work\, “Playboy\, a Guide to Cigars” arrived in cigar shops November 2009 and the public version hit retail stores Spring 2010.
