SUMMARY:Software Class #4
DESCRIPTION: Registration is closed.\nFrom the instructor\, Troy Miller\n“As a full-time photographer for nearly 25 years\, just over half that time has been digital. I remember the simpler days when I didn’t have to manage my data\, color correct\, print\, manage social media and on and on. Today the biggest hurdle I see in becoming a photographer isn’t the photography itself\, it’s managing all the baggage that’s required. \nI will try to guide and ease your way into which software works for me and how I use it. I am an avid software consumer\, so I’ve tested more than my fair share and own more than I could ever use. The workflow philosophy that I’ve developed and the ultimate decision factors of how I choose software all depends on simplicity and efficiency of workflow. \nEach class will build on the previous. I will show my workflow and the software I use as well as the countless alternatives. My goal will be for you to have a complete workflow from shoot to print. Bring your laptops\, images\, and questions. Be ready for some homework! Those who register will receive an email with images and some homework to get you started.” \n \n\n\nCURRICULUM SCHEDULE\nClass #1: Post-Shoot – February 26th \nClick here to learn more. \n  \nClass #2: Editing – April 12th \nClick here to learn more. \n  \nClass #3: Exporting for print\, web\, etc. – June 28th \nClick here to learn more. \n  \nClass #4: Q&A Discussion and Wrapup – August 30th \nThis final class in this series will be an open forum for discussion\, asking questions and working through any issues from previous classes or new challenges. \n  \nHave questions? SUMMARY:June General Meeting - Dual Hands-On Instruction
DESCRIPTION:Something a little different! \nFor our upcoming June meeting\, we have an exciting hands-on learning opportunity. Two shooting sets will be created featuring instruction from Troy Miller\, giving you the best tips and tricks for shooting in the pouring rain\, and Nick-Seth Smith demonstrating how to create beautiful portrait lighting with less than $1\,500 worth of gear. \nBring your cameras (no tripods or light stands please) and be prepared for some fun! There will be numerous opportunities to capture some great shots. \n  \n\n  \nTroy Miller – The Weather vs. Your Shot\nHave you ever wanted to create a killer photograph of a truck in the rain? Well\, that’s exactly what we are going to do. Don’t worry\, Troy will be the one teaching and getting soaked\, camera and all. He will be going over how to best prepare\, narrowing the concept for your shot\, lighting\, posing and how to work when the weather is against you. \nBring your gear for safe and dry shooting at a distance. \n  \n  \n\n  \nNick Seth-Smith – Portrait Lighting Without Breaking the Bank\nWe have all seen portrait demonstrations with tens of thousands of dollars in high-end lighting equipment\, beautiful sets\, and complex setups. Nick will take an alternative look at the same challenge and create a portrait using no more than $1\,500 of equipment\, including the camera. This is a chance to see that your work doesn’t have to reflect your equipment budget. \nLeft – Example of Nick’s Portrait Work \n  \n  \n  \n\n\nDINNER OPTION\nIf you would like to purchase a meal during the meeting\, the cost is $10. Payment is accepted at the meeting (cash only).

SUMMARY:Fossil Falls Workshop
DESCRIPTION: Registration for this event is closed.\n  \nIf you go to Fossil Falls\, don’t expect to find either fossils or falls. What you will find\, rather\, is a spectacular lava flow sculpted by rushing water and wind late in the Ice Ages—a “ fossil” of nature’s handiwork. As you hike the rocky trail through the formation\, you’ll wonder at first where the “ falls” are because the land immediately before you is relatively flat\, but abruptly\, you’ll come to the chasm that reveals the spectacular lava falls. \nIt is located just off U. S. Highway 395 on the east side of the southern end of California’s Sierra Nevada. \n  \n\n\nENTRY COST\n\nIEPPV Premium Members = FREE\nIEPPV Introductory and Professional Members = $25\nNon-IEPPV Members = $200\n\n\nREGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS\nIEPPV Premium\, Professional\, and Introductory Members: \nYour membership number is required at registration or you cannot complete the registration process. If you are unsure what your membership number is\, please email membership@ieppv.com. \n  \nNon-IEPPV Members: \nIf this option is selected\, the member number requirement “grays out” and the $200 requires payment or you cannot complete registration. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Software Class #2
DESCRIPTION: Registration has been closed\nFrom the instructor\, Troy Miller\n“As a full-time photographer for nearly 25 years\, just over half that time has been digital. SUMMARY:Macro Photography
DESCRIPTION: Registration for this event has been closed.\n  \nThis program and hands-on experience will give you the jump-start you need to discover the sheer joy of doing macro the smart way. SUMMARY:Wild Horses in the Winter
DESCRIPTION: Registration for this workshop has been closed.\n  \nThe Onaqui (on-nah-kee) Wild Horse Herd is approximately 200 or more. The herd has occupied the mountains since the early 1800’s. No one knows for sure how they arrived. The herd is accessed through the many 4WD roads and trails that run through the tens of thousands of acres of unfenced federal and state land that the horses roam on. Water is plentiful\, mostly through the stock reservoirs and streams\, which are fed by winter snows and spring runoff. \nThe herd contains a large variety of color. You will see Chestnut\, Brown\, Bay\, Gray\, Palomino\, Black\, Buckskin\, Roan\, Paint and Sorrel. The variety is endless due to the frequent breeding within the herd. There are many foal\, yearlings\, and colts that roam with the herd with their color being largely varied. Most mares and stallions weigh in near ½ ton and the herd generally appears in good health. \nItinerary for the event will be sent out to registrants. \n  \n\n\nENTRY COST\nTravel\, accommodations\, guide fee\, and food are NOT included in entry cost  \n\nIEPPV Premium Members = FREE\nIEPPV Introductory and Professional Members = $350\nNon-IEPPV Members = $700\n\n\nREGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS\nIEPPV Premium\, Professional\, and Introductory Members: \nYour membership number is required at registration or you cannot complete the registration process. SUMMARY:Introduction to Concert Photography
DESCRIPTION: Registration for this workshop has been closed.\n  \nConcert photography is one of the most challenging types of photography there is – and it’s addicting. You have no control over the lighting or the position of the subjects. Stages are filled with amps\, instruments\, mic stands\, and wires. And don’t get me started on the lighting\, which is usually odd colors and fast changing. Through scenes like this\, some of the most iconic photos of our lives have been taken. If you have ever wanted to get a glimpse into live music photography\, then join us for this Introduction to Concert Photography workshop. \nLive Music photography is usually limited to media professionals\, shooting from an area called “the photo pit”\, which sits between the stage and the crowd\, and which is closed to the general public. These areas are small\, and often crowded with security personnel\, and of course other photographers. The standard rule for concert photographers is “3 from the pit\, no flash”\, which translates to shooting the first 3 songs\, with no flash”. In this workshop we will try to give you a small glimpse into one of the exclusive genres of photography. \nThis is a “hands-on” workshop and you will be expected to have an educated understanding of your camera’s controls and how to adjust them. \n  \n\n  \nMeet the Instructor – Steve Brazill\nSteve Brazill is a Southern California based Live Music Photographer\, a member of our Board of Directors\, Host of the Behind the Shot podcast\, and the house photographer for San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in Highland\, CA. He also shoots for rock radio station 96.7 KCAL FM\, where he has also been an on-air personality since 1987. As a radio personality\, emcee\, and voice actor\, Steve has been around the entertainment industry for many years. Combining his love of both music & photography\, Steve captures those defining moments that happen during a live performance – on-stage or behind-the-scenes. \n  \nCheck out More of Steve’s Work \nPortfolio  |  Twitter (@Razz2)  |  Facebook (@SteveBrazillPhotography)  |  Instagram (@SteveBrazill) \nSample of Steve’s Work\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n  \n\n\nENTRY COST\n\nIEPPV Premium Members = FREE\nIEPPV Introductory and Professional Members = $175\nNon-IEPPV Members = $350\n\n\nREGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS\nIEPPV Premium\, Professional\, and Introductory Members: \nYour membership number is required at registration or you cannot complete the registration process. SUMMARY:Introduction to Focus Stacking
DESCRIPTION:How many times have you shot something small and been forced to choose which part of the subject will be sharp? Or found a beautiful landscape and had to decide between the flower in front of you or the mountains in the distance being in focus? \nJoin us for a look into the world of focus stacking. Nick Seth-Smith will take you the process of deciding if and when to focus stack\, how to take the shots and options for processing the images afterward. We will then do a live shoot and finally we’ll process the images using two different software solutions. \nCLASS OUTLINE\n\nWhen does it make sense to focus stack?\nF-stop selection\nFocus adjust vs. moving the camera\nProcessing the images\nPhotoshop\nHelicon focus\nQuick demonstration of shoot and process\nHands-on shooting\n\n  \nIn the demonstration I will shoot an object twice – once adjusting the focus by hand and once on macro rails. I will upload both sets of images to the laptop and then process them twice – 1 in Photoshop and 1 using Helicon Focus. I will also talk about how to focus stack by hand for those who really like that sort of thing! \n  \n\n\nENTRY COST\n\nIEPPV Premium Members = FREE\nIEPPV Introductory and Professional Members = $50\nNon-IEPPV Members = $100\n\n\nREGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS\nIEPPV Premium\, Professional\, and Introductory Members: \nYour membership number is required at registration or you cannot complete the registration process.
