Sign up for a 30-minute one-on-one session with a mentor before our General Meeting! You may use the time to address any concerns\, including but not limited to\, image/portfolio review\, business/marketing advice\, “how do I get my image ready for image competition\,” or simply a Q&A. \nS.P.A. Candidates\nAll S.P.A. candidates will receive a credit of 30 minutes towards their 10-hour mentoring/”assist another photographer” requirement. This credit is limited to two sessions per year. \nInterested in Becoming a Mentor?\nAll mentors who participate in our monthly mentor sessions will earn service merits. What do I need to improve? \nAt this month’s general meeting\, you’ll get a chance to see a live demonstration of those questions answered. Our host\, Troy Miller\, will carefully observe three guest photographers as they interact with and photograph portraits of our model. Once finished\, Troy will provide constructive critiques on their shooting techniques and final captures. \nAfter the critiques are delivered\, our three guest photographers will have a chance to reshoot our model to see if/how Troy’s advice transforms their final images. \nYou won’t want to miss it! \n  \n\n  \nWhat does a Level 1 event mean?\nEach of our events lists a recommended level of experience (1-3). DESCRIPTION:Image courtesy of John Powers  |  This is a Level 1 event \n Registration: OPENS October 10 @ 6pm / CLOSES October 19 @ 6am\nTravel Photography\nTravel Photography can be intimidating: while navigating through unfamiliar countries abroad with peculiar customs and foreign languages\, you hope to keep you and your expensive gear safe and also capture incredible images without insulting anyone unintentionally. With a moderate-to-hefty investment of time and money\, you certainly don’t want to end up with cellphone snapshots like those your Uncle Miltie took on his last cruise to Catalina Island. \nIn this class\, you will explore the ins and outs of Travel Photography\, with a particular focus on overseas travel tips and insights rarely talked about in this field. John Powers will begin with what exactly is Travel Photography and how it embodies other disciplines of photography\, making the experience diverse and unique. \nOpen discussions will include the pros and cons of traveling alone or in tour groups\, US State Department guidelines\, to include the CDC\, Travel Advisory Updates\, and S.T.E.P program\, all crucial for real-world crisis and preparation. This will also include guidelines involving travel in light of terrorism and natural disasters. Understanding cultures and customs in light of Travel Photography and practical photographic techniques and tips especially for traveling abroad will certainly be covered.
