SUMMARY:Theater Photography Workshop
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT: Registration is required to attend and spots are limited. \nJoin us for a unique\, hands-on theater photography workshop where you’ll have the opportunity to capture The Wizard of Oz – Youth Edition live on stage! This immersive experience will teach you how to navigate the challenges of theater photography\, including working with harsh stage lighting\, capturing dynamic action and expressive performances\, and understanding the limitations of your camera—especially when using a silent shutter. \nWhat You’ll Learn\n\nMastering exposure and white balance in unpredictable theater lighting\nFreezing action while maintaining natural motion and emotion\nUnderstanding the impact of silent shutter on image quality and autofocus\nPositioning yourself for the best composition without disrupting the audience\n\nWorkshop Schedule\n\nPre-Show Meeting (6:15pm) – We’ll gather before the performance for instruction\, an overview of best practices\, and a discussion of theater etiquette and shooting rules.\nFirst Half Shooting – You’ll put your skills to the test\, photographing live action as the show unfolds.\nIntermission Review – We’ll regroup to discuss what worked\, what challenges you faced\, and strategies to improve for the second half.\nSecond Half Shooting – Armed with new insights\, you’ll refine your approach and capture even stronger images.\n\nThis is a rare opportunity to practice your craft while learning in a real-world theater environment. Whether you’re new to event photography or looking to sharpen your skills\, this workshop will provide valuable hands-on experience with expert guidance. \n\nImportant Information\n1. There will be a hired photographer photographing the event. We cannot get in their way nor should we disrupt the show — However\, access the back of the audience and wings will be fine. \n2. Given that this is a youth performance\, images should not be shared on open forum social media\, but would be acceptable on IEPPV Live. \n3. No flash will be allowed during the performance. \n4. Parking: The event address will take you to the front of the school where you WILL NOT have access to the theater. You will need to park in the parking lot at the rear of the school off of W. Linden St. then entrance is right at the corner of W. Linden St. and Cranford Ave. \n\n  \nRegistration\nWhile not required\, it is highly recommended that you make a small monetary donation to the theater group.
