A morning visit to the outskirts of La Jolla to photograph seabirds is on the top of the list for many of our IEPPV members, so be sure to register early!
This is a great location to capture seabirds in all their glory whether grounded or in flight. The setting lends itself to great images and is the perfect spot to get your feet wet with bird photography. The pelicans should still be in their finest mating plumage punctuated by a dramatic red throat pouch and dark brown neck.
Whether this is your first attempt or you have been shooting birds for a lifetime, we invite you to join our guest instructor, Robert Fletcher, for this the perfect chance to capture magical moments from our avian friends’ lives.
What to bring
- Camera, cards, batteries etc.
- A long lens (even through we will be relatively close to the birds, a long lens will be crucial for those amazing closeups)
- Sturdy tripod
- Warm clothes including a hat
- Water, sunscreen, and chapstick
What does a Level 2 event mean?
Each of our events lists a recommended level of experience (1-3). By categorizing our events using this method, we hope to better inform you of what you need to know and how to best prepare so that you can get the most out of your attendance.
A level 2 event means that the instruction will be focused on intermediate and advanced techniques. Attendees are also expected to have a good working knowledge of their gear and/or software.
- i.e. Camera Knowledge – White balance, ISO, lens choice, DoF, flash function, and the exposure triangle.
- i.e. Software Knowledge – Importing images and software navigation
Please Note: Anyone is welcome to attend any class level, however, the pace and content may not be at your current skill level. If this is the case, please expect to attend with the expectation to observe rather than engage. As with all of our educational events, we will always make every effort to accommodate all attendees regardless of their experience level.
